What You’ll Be Doing
As the CFO, you will be a strategic powerhouse and key financial architect for UCU, driving the financial health and success of the organization. This executive role ensures financial stability, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while aligning financial strategies with our mission to serve the university community.

You’ll be a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, leading financial strategy, risk management, and operational oversight to propel UCU forward.

Here are some key responsibilities:

• Financial Strategy & Leadership
  • Lead all financial operations, including financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and investment strategies.
  • To optimize financial performance, provide the CEO and Board with data-driven insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Oversee profitability analysis, ALM, risk assessments, and liquidity management.
• Accounting & Compliance
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and financial accuracy in all operations.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing, financial statements, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and develop financial policies that support growth.
• Enterprise Risk & Regulatory Management
  • Lead the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Act as the primary liaison for audits, regulatory exams, and Board reporting.
  • Monitor and manage investment risks and balance sheet strategies.
• Operational & Card Services Oversight
  • Oversee electronic services, payment systems, and cash flow management.
    Partner with IT and operations teams to enhance fintech solutions and automation.
• Leadership & Growth
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance, accounting, and risk management team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and financial excellence.
  • Provide financial training to executives, Board members, and staff.

What We’re Looking For

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred).

Experience:

• 7 plus years of progressive financial leadership experience (preferably in the credit union or banking industry).
• 5 plus years in an executive or senior management roles.
• Deep knowledge of credit union or banking operations, GAAP accounting, ALM, and financial risk management.
• Skills & Expertise:
• Strategic financial planning & analysis.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to drive innovation and efficiency in financial operations.
