The Wisconsin Credit Union League is seeking our next President/Chief Executive Officer. Our trade association actively engages credit union activists across the state of Wisconsin with one of the strongest collective advocacy machines in the credit union system, rallied around a shared common mission of financial well-being for all.

Our 110 member credit unions are highly supportive of the work we do in education, advocacy, and collaboration, leading to one of the credit union movement’s strongest young professional movements, a great reputation at the state capitol in Madison, and effective relationships in Washington D.C. The League acts as a catalyst for collaboration, helping credit unions build meaningful partnerships designed to enhance the reputation of and operating environment for credit unions across the state as they serve Wisconsin’s consumers.

Our trade association is an independent entity proud of our autonomy and with a bright future ahead. Our President/CEO reports to a 9-person Board of Directors (comprised of credit union executives) and collaborates with a team of 25 employees to execute our mission of advancing a thriving Wisconsin Credit Union community.

Located in the capital city of Madison, our office is located at the Wisconsin Credit Union House, directly across the street from the Capitol. Credit Union House serves as a command center for credit union advocacy efforts and is a central venue for various credit union events.

Madison, Wisconsin, is a thriving university town, offering four distinct seasons, a vibrant downtown, and an excellent quality of life. Across the state, Wisconsin provides outdoor activities and arts and cultural events where members of the community connect with neighbors in a friendly, mid-Western manner.

For 90 years, the League has been steadfastly dedicated to its core purpose: Promoting The Credit Union Difference. Through a commitment to excellence, honesty and integrity, risk-taking, balance, and unity, the League President/CEO will guide the team to support Wisconsin’s Credit Union and Wisconsin Credit Union members.

In addition to serving as the President/CEO of the Wisconsin Credit Union League (the trade association and its advocacy arm), the selected candidate will set the strategic direction of The Foundation (our 501-c-3 charitable entity), and The WCUL Services Corporation (our fee-based business division). This opportunity to lead across multiple lines requires a leader who will use vision to identify opportunities and new ways to help Wisconsin’s Credit Unions and our trade association thrive, even with consolidation in the industry.

Using well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and trust with a wide variety of key stakeholders, you will connect members with solutions and create an environment of collaboration across the industry. The President/CEO of the Wisconsin Credit Union League will thrive on bringing people together and uniting them around a shared common vision. Humility, authenticity, and persistence are key in building critical trust. The ability to make informed—and sometimes difficult—decisions when consensus and clarity are not possible will keep the organization moving forward.

Executing on strategy, demonstrating resilience, and coaching others with a supportive style will motivate team members and member credit unions to engage.
