Position Description

Position Summary - SVP/Chief Lending Officer

The Chief Lending Officer (CLO) serves as a senior level executive working with the CEO, executive team, and the Board of Directors to develop the strategic vision of TTCU. The CLO is responsible for leading and managing the credit union’s lending operations. The CLO is pivotal in ensuring TTCU’s lending program achieves growth and profitability goals while maintaining the highest level of credit quality and regulatory compliance. The CLO will collaborate with departments throughout TTCU to develop strategies and achieve goals.

Supervises: VP of Loss Mitigation, VP of Lending Services, VP of Mortgage Operations, VP of Indirect Lending, Director of Underwriting, Executive Assistant, and Quality Control Specialists

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership of TTCU lending functions. Develop and execute TTCU’s lending strategy in alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Provide visionary leadership to the lending team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Monitor market trends and economic conditions to proactively respond to changes that impact lending operations. Evaluate technology trends and recommend options that can increase efficiencies in lending operations and enhance member service.

Effectively manage risk and credit quality in TTCU’s lending operations. Proactively identify, analyze, and manage loan portfolio risks, prioritizing diversification strategies as Credit Manager. Maintain robust credit analysis and risk management practices. Proactively monitor ongoing performance and effectively implement corrective actions to mitigate potential losses. Develop data-driven strategies to improve and maintain high credit quality standards. When appropriate, utilize technology to help meet credit quality standards.

Lead the operational management of lending functions, overseeing all lending activities at TTCU. Ensure efficient and effective loan processing, underwriting, closing, and funding practices. When possible, incorporate technology solutions to increase efficiency. Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote sound lending practices and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Foster an environment of collaboration and team development. Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing, diverse lending team focused on serving members and achieving strong results. Foster an environment of continual learning that encourages professional growth and development. Effectively collaborate and communicate with all TTCU departments ensuring clarity and alignment throughout the organization.

Maintain a strong focus on exceptional member service. Ensure a high level of member satisfaction by always working to delight members. Maintain a relentless focus on gathering member feedback, ensuring member feedback helps drive decisions. Develop and maintain strong relationships with members, potential members, and key stakeholders in the community. Promote TTCU’s lending products and services to increase member engagement.

Lead efforts to surpass strategic goals for lending, including loan growth and profitability targets. Develop and manage the lending budget, ensuring an efficient and intelligent allocation of resources. Provide regular reports on lending activities, loan portfolio performance, and financial results to the CEO, executive team, and the Board of Directors.

Minimum Qualifications

Educational Requirements:  

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or other related discipline.

High School Diploma or GED.

Certificates/Licenses:   

Ability to qualify and maintain NMLS License (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System).

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Must have a clean driving record; an annual MVR may be pulled to ensure compliance.

Experience

Management experience within a financial institution: 8 Years, Advanced

Extensive knowledge of Mortgage Sales and Service, and Centralized Lending Programs: 8 Years, Advanced

Demonstrated management experience across multiple areas of lending: 4 Years, Intermediate

Experience with business financial analysis, startup proposals, and cash flow analysis: 3 years, Intermediate

Working Conditions

Routinely perform work indoors in climate controlled private office with minimal noise.
