The Credit Union was founded in 1932 and has grown to serve more than 20,000 members across Southeast Minnesota. Is This the Career for You?
The AVP of Risk Management will play a pivotal role in operating, overseeing, and managing risk-related functions within the credit union, including Internal Audit, Compliance, Fraud Prevention, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The successful employee will develop, implement, and maintain effective risk management strategies and processes. Experience with marijuana or cannabis-related businesses is a strong plus for our AVP of Risk Management.

The AVP of Risk Management will also be instrumental in fostering a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management throughout the credit union. This individual will work closely with senior leadership to integrate risk management practices into the credit union's strategic planning and decision-making processes. The AVP will regularly communicate risk assessments and recommendations to Executive Management, ensuring they are well-informed about potential risks and mitigation strategies. Additionally, the AVP will spearhead training and development programs to educate staff on compliance, fraud prevention, and other risk-related topics, promoting a unified and informed approach to risk management across all levels of the organization. This role demands a leader who is not only technically proficient but also a mentor and advocate for continuous improvement in the credit union's risk management practices.

Our AVP Risk Management should be a strategic and forward-thinking leader who will continue to guide the credit union with a keen eye toward understanding our communities’ changing needs and meeting those needs with business acumen and compassion. Approachable and open, the AVP Risk Management will need to effectively establish rapport with employees, community leaders, other credit union industry executives.

A bachelor’s degree in business, Risk Management, or a related field; or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (professional certifications, e.g., CRCM, CAMS, CIA) (3) advanced degree or proven experience in risk management, compliance, fraud prevention, and internal audit within the industry/sector would also be acceptable.
