Dr. Kathy Pearson

Kathy Pearson, Ph.D. is a strategist, Systems Thinking expert, and authority in decision making. She is President and Founder of Enterprise Learning Solutions, a firm focused on executive development and learning across industries. Kathy is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics and has served as an adjunct Associate Professor in the Operations and Information Management Department at The Wharton School, both at the University of Pennsylvania. In this academic capacity, Kathy taught operations management courses in the MBA program and Executive Master’s in Technology Management programs as well as Probability and Statistics, Simulation Modeling, and other courses for the department and the University.
An award-winning educator, Kathy works extensively with mid- to senior level executives, including high potentials and executive teams. She works closely with Executive Education groups including the Wharton School, Duke CE, Smith College, and the Institute for Management Studies, as well as directly with global organizations. Kathy teaches on a variety of topics including Critical Thinking, Strategic Agility, Change Management and Strategic Execution. As Lead Faculty for many programs, she is responsible for overarching curriculum design, integration of the material, and the overall educational quality of the engagement. Kathy specifically likes to focus on application of the concepts covered in her content.
Kathy’s work with executives spans a wide variety of industries and geographies, including health care and life sciences, financial and professional services, technology, consumer products, energy, aerospace and defense, and manufacturing. Her client list includes organizations as diverse as Bank of America, Cardinal Health, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Citi, Coca-Cola, Comcast, Estee Lauder Companies, Federal Reserve Bank, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Google, Heineken, Johnson Controls, Juniper, Life Insurance Research and Marketing Association (LIMRA/LL Global), Lincoln Financial Group, Lundbeck, Microsoft, Schneider Electric, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SII/SIFMA), Temasek Management Academy, University of Pennsylvania Health System (Penn Medicine), and the World Bank.
In addition to her executive development work, Kathy’s industrial and consulting experience includes advising senior leadership teams in the areas of strategic formulation, leading under uncertainty, and bridging the gap between strategy and execution. She is the co-author of The Perceptive Leader: A Handbook for Leading in an Environment of Uncertainty.
Kathy received her B.S. degree in theoretical mathematics from Auburn University, her M.S. degree in Decision Sciences from Georgia State University, and her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering (concentration in statistics) from Northwestern University.
Dr. Sekou Bermiss is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. Sekou Bermiss’ research is in the area of strategic management and organizational theory.
Specifically, he investigates how institutional factors shape the perception of firms by critical stakeholders. His research also explores the antecedents and consequences of human capital mobility and how different forms of employee movement impact a firm’s ability to compete with rivals.
Dr. Bermiss teaches courses in people analytics, managing human capital, leading for impact and organizational theory and design.
He is a Fellow at the Filene Institute where he leads the research efforts of the “War for Talent” Center of Excellence.
His award-winning research has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal and Research in Organizational Behavior. His research has been highlighted by Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal and National Public Radio.
He was honored as a Poets & Quants 2018 Top Undergraduate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he served on the faculty before joining UNC Kenan-Flagler.
Before entering academia, Dr. Bermiss worked for Deloitte Consulting in New York City.
He received his PhD and MS management and organizations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and his BS in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

MADISON, Wis.— Talent development provider CUES is pleased to announce Mark L. Robnett, CCE, President/CEO, Justice Federal Credit Union, Chantilly, VA, and Richard R. Romero, President/CEO, Seattle Credit Union, Seattle, WA, have accepted appointments to serve on its board of directors.

Robnett leads the $868 million Justice Federal Credit Union, which serves more than 60,000 members of the justice and law enforcement community. Robnett has a proven record of accomplishment, with experience providing fiscal, strategic and operations leadership. Under his leadership, he has initiated a “member service driven” philosophy introducing the latest in technological advances such as biometric identification and facial recognition. He holds the Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation, earned by graduating from CUES CEO Institute.
Robnett also serves on the board of PSCU. He attended Oakland University, where he completed undergraduate coursework with a focus in Management Information Systems (MIS).
Romero heads up the $896 million asset-sized Seattle Credit Union, which serves over 50,000 members across Washington state. Under his leadership, the credit union has rebranded and shifted its focus to serving Seattle’s low-income areas. The institution was also awarded a Juntos Avanzamos certification, which recognizes credit unions for their service to the Latino community, and in 2018 Romero was awarded the Trailblazer CEO of the Year by the Credit Union Times.
Romero holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from the University of La Verne in Los Angeles County, CA. He also serves on the boards of Inclusiv, an industry organization focused on community development credit unions, the United Way of King County, and YWCA of King and Snohomish Counties.
