Russell is VP of Sales and Member Relations – Northeast at CUES. He previously served as VP Business Development/Membership at Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA). He joined PCUA in 2007 and held many member facing roles there.
Russell is based in Harrisburg, PA, where he acts as a liaison between CUES and credit unions in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
MADISON, Wis.—Groundbreaking online discussion series CUES RealTalk! is set to tackle The Confidence Gap at its next session, on June 22. CUES RealTalk! covers important, but often hard to discuss, issues impacting the credit union industry and is focusing on the theme Women in the Workforce: Because $0.82 is NOT Enough.
Attendees will hear from a panel of experts, moderated by Laurie J. Maddalena, MBA, CSP, CPCC, CEO, Envision Excellence. She’ll be joined by Bryn C. Conway, MBA, CUDE, Principal, BC Consulting, LLC; Sara Jensen, Senior Vice President, Governance and Administration, CO-OP Solutions; and Soma Sarkar, CUCE, CCE, Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer.
“Research shows women tend to struggle with lack of confidence more than men; our panelists will explore the why’s behind the confidence gap, and offer suggestions on ways to overcome it,” said Dawn Abely, CUES’ SVP/Chief Sales & Member Relations Officer.

Leiha is the VP of Sales and Member Relations - International. She is responsible for driving the Canadian and Caribbean strategy and is the main contact for all things CUES in the International marketplace. Leiha has over 25 years of experience in the Canadian Credit Union system. She started her credit union career with Maple Ridge Credit Union (Westminster Savings Credit Union) in British Columbia and has held senior roles with CRI Canada and Stabilization Central CU prior to joining CUES.
Leiha works out of her home office in Vancouver where she acts as a liaison between CUES and credit unions in Canada and the Caribbean.
Tanya Mueller Smith is Manager of Member Relations and Sales Support – Canada. She previously worked at Central 1 where she contributed to various teams providing consulting services and project management support to credit unions including the support of the National Credit Card Program. She has been a life-long member of Bulkley Valley Credit Union, was a recipient of the Credit Union Foundation Bursary and has been on the BC Young Leaders working committee since its inception in 2016. She has been chairing the BCYL network since March of 2018.
Tanya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Community Leadership Program Certificate from UBC, a Certificate of Business Management and a Certificate of Human Resource Management from SFU and holds a professional designation in HR.

Jimese is VP of Membership at CUES, where she serves the people who help the people. Jimese started her career as a teller, working in various member support roles before landing the dream role in corporate philanthropy. She has 20 years of experience in various leadership roles across the association and credit union industries.
Jimese earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from Jacksonville State University and Juris Doctorate from Birmingham School of Law. She has also completed the CEO Institute, earning the Certified Chief Executive designation (CCE) from CUES. She is also a Certified Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE).
