Susanne Biro is a coach to C-suite and executive level leaders. She is also an author, designer, facilitator, Forbes and CEO Magazine contributor, TEDx speaker, and co-founder of Syntrina Leadership. For close to two decades, Susanne has worked internationally with senior-level leaders in some of the world’s best companies. According to clients, her strength lies in her “innate ability to distill the heart of the matter from the clutter and confusion that surround seemingly complex or difficult decisions.” Whether coaching one-on-one or authoring, designing, and delivering leadership programs, her passion is the same: to help leaders reach their next level of personal, professional, and leadership mastery.
Ms. Davis has been a human resources practitioner for over 25 years in a variety of industries focusing on numerous disciplines. Shortly after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Hampton University, Ms. Davis launched her career in Human Resources at IKON Management Services. It was there that she learned the foundation of human resources through her work in recruitment and selection, on-boarding, employee development and salary, benefits and payroll administration. With this foundation, she developed the necessary knowledge and skillset to transition to generalist and leadership roles with Uniscribe Professional Services (Williams Lea), Smithsonian Enterprises and Radio One, Inc. In these roles, she advised and counseled employees and managers on technical and administrative practices and, then, expanded her role by proactively partnering with lines of business in strategy development and implementation.
Currently, Ms. Davis is Vice President of People at SECU where she provides thought leadership to bring vision, innovation, and practical experience in people leadership to support organizational wide goals. She leads the organization's efforts in talent management, compensation and benefits, HRIS, payroll strategy and management; as well as, the talent acquisition and engagement initiatives for various lines of business.
Ms. Davis also completed her Masters of Science with a concentration in Business and Human Resources Management and, has also earned her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation through the Human Resources Certification Institute. In addition, she has also earned her Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society of Human Resources Management.
Outside of her professional commitment and work in the human resources profession, Ms. Davis enjoys volunteering with the United Way, where she is Chair of the Howard County RUN Board and other various community leadership interests with Leadership Howard County. Ms. Davis has a passion for learning about new cultures through traveling the world and seeing all her interactions as an opportunity to listen, help, partner and advance. She is a proud recipient of the Ragan Top Woman in Wellness & HR Award. Most importantly, she values her time with her family and friends and the overall well-being of all.
MADISON, Wis.— The 2022 CUES Emerge program is one step closer to identifying the top emerging leaders in the credit union industry.
Thirty up-and-coming professionals were selected to take part in the program; 27 self-selected into the competition phase to have their submitted business cases reviewed by a panel of judges. The four judges reviewed all entries and identified the top five finalists to participate in the online pitch show, powered by Currency.
The five finalists are:

They worked hard throughout the education and competition phases and presented intriguing business cases for our judging panel. The five finalists chosen have a wide range of business cases that address challenges and bring new ideas that many credit unions share.”

The five Finalists will take to the virtual stage and present their business cases during a live online pitch show, on October 5. Tune in to hear from these talented leaders and support their journey.
Following the live show, the judges will select the Top Three, and the ultimate 2022 CUES Emerging Leader will be named.
All members of the Top Three will receive a tiered educational and coaching package to support continued development and growth within the industry.

Jim Detert is a Professor in the Leadership and Organizational Behavior area, and Associate Dean for Executive Degree Programs and Leadership Initiatives, at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
Jim has written many teaching cases and other curriculum materials. He has also designed leadership and ethics classes taught around the world in degree and non-degree formats.
Jim’s current research focuses on workplace courage, improvement-oriented voice, ethical decision making and behavior, and other leadership-related topics. His research has appeared in many prominent practitioner and academic outlets, including Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, and Personnel Psychology.
Most recently, he has published the article “Cultivating Everyday Courage” in Harvard Business Review, and is working on a book on the same topic.
Jim received his M.A. in sociology and Ph.D. in organizational behavior from Harvard University. He also holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota and a BBA from the University of Wisconsin.
